Apparently the POTUS has decided that the way he needs to start out with the campaigning for this year (2010) must be done ALA ‘08.
He showed up in Dallas TX, declaring that we need to move away from the Bush policies, that we need to stay with the democrats, and that all the problems we are facing are Bush’s fault.
Apparently he has forgotten that he has already won the election against George W Bush.
What I found funny was that there was not a single Democrat politician on hand to meet Air Force 1 when it landed. The President had to shake hands with the REPUBLICAN governor of Texas, and it ought to be noted that neither man was really comfortable with that.
The Governor was willing to put aside differences though and be a congenial host. Obama was a less than model guest… but I digress.
In a speech he gave IN texas following the fiasco at the airport he said “when you get in a car and want to go somewhere, what do you do? You put it in D…” the idea being D is for drive and R is for reverse and since the word Republican starts with R that means they will “drag us back” but Democrat starts with D and that means Drive and that means moving forward.
The problem is that when you are nose deep in a ditch, you NEED to put it in reverse or even call a tow truck to pull you out.
Continuing to floor the gas while stuck is only going to make the situation worse.
Although there is one point that recently came to my attention that makes me think Obama IS overcoming the partisanship of the American people. He recently complained about Liberal Bloggers giving him a bad image. On one of my favorite talk shows (conservative) the host had a liberal blogger who pointed out that what Obama is doing in this country is becoming equally troublesome and unwanted for them.
So he seems to be overcoming the hatred each party has for the other simply by offering up a common enemy. Interesting plan Mr. President.
