IT ISN’T ANECDOTE!

Sometimes I get so fed up with some liberals that it isn’t really funny.

Take for instance Wednesday night (8-11-10) usually I do not listen to a certain liberal Radio shock jock, and this particular evening I was reminded why.

He had on a guest who was a senator from Connecticut. She was a liberal and obviously so was he. They got to talking about the health care bill, and what she said was that republicans were against It for no good reason and the people were against it just because of the scare tactics by the republicans. The thing is that they would not have listened to me.

I AM not a republican! I am a conservative. I register as an independent and I like it that way because in my experience neither party is listening to me or anyone else and they sure have not been addressing my basic needs let alone wants.

Had this radio personality and his guest been willing to hear from me, I would have GLADLY told them why it is that I have a problem with this health care bill. And first and foremost the reason why I have a problem is because it does NOTHING for me but it takes a lot FROM me.

I am EXACTLY the kind of person that Obama is describing (or was) when he is talking about people wanting Health care but not affording it, and I am also someone who ends up having to use the ER as my primary care physician.

But NOTHING in the so called reform act will be of any benefit to me.

They covered the complaints that pundits have made on the conservative side against this bill.
Specifically they talked about…

The point that insurance rates will sky rocket, their view? “ they were going up anyway.”
The point that businesses were going to let people go (fire) due to the costs being put on them. The senator’s response? “ the businesses can get a lot of help from the government, up to a third of the costs incurred by the business the Government will cover, and if a business has fewer than 50 employees they are exempt. That STILL leaves an increase in cost to the non exempt business by the 2/3 not paid, and even if they are telling the truth about exempt status then the employees of those businesses are STILL screwed and without coverage.
This is an increase in costs. Their response? No this is a lessening of costs, right now all these people end up going to the ER as their primary care physician, once they have insurance they will instead go to a real doctor (like ER doctors are fakes) and they will get good preventative treatment so it doesn’t get so expensive. This is a bad one because it assumes… first it assumes that people will start going to a doctor every few months for checkups and the like. Second it assumes that there are doctors in the areas who will take the government backed insurance, re Medicare.

I am actually going to stop there, I got so totally frustrated with the program that is about where I shut it off anyway, (and it took me about half an hour to truly calm down again after wards.
But let me address this from my experience.
Rates might have been going up before but immediately after the passage of the health care package the insurance rates doubled or tripled! I have seen this kind of thing seeing what goes on in my place of work. My workplace had to let people go because of the increase in operating costs being put on them, particularly in a time of recession. I believe the DOUBLING of insurance can be counted as one of the costs they are dealing with.
I and many others like me are still going to have to use the ER as our primary care facilities. It does not matter if the government says I have to buy insurance or go to jail, I cannot buy insurance BECAUSE I CANNOT AFFORD IT.
All my money goes to the basics of life like Rent, clothes, food, gas, electric and water et al.
There is literally NO ROOM in my budget to add Health Insurance especially at the rates they have been driven to by this government interference. Also I would like to point out that when I was on Medicare for a while a few years ago, there was not a doctor within 30 miles of my home who was taking Medicare. So even if I was able to get it I still wouldn’t be able to see a doctor because there isn’t one near me.

The host, I know, would respond to what I have to say with the response, “ well that’s all anecdotal evidence.” I know because that is how he has always responded to this kind of point. “well that may be your experience but it’s really just anecdotal and doesn’t mean anything.” (Yes that IS a direct quote.)

He claims to be open minded but I have realized with this type of person what they really mean by open minded is. “ I will hear and believe any facts or anything you say/do AS LONG AS IT MATCHES WITH WHAT I BELIEVE OR WANT TO BELIEVE.” In other words, So open minded that he can’t hear the real facts of an issue and how they are affecting people, because they conflict with his belief system.
