I WISH THEY WOULD START AT HOME:

I have often heard it said that we “need to fix our problems at home before going out to fix the problems of the world.”

And I agree. The thing is that this goes even deeper. Here in America we seem to have a problem with looking to ourselves. We ALWAYS expect someone else to fix our problems while we run off to fix others.
I think that needs to change. But before it can, we need to elect into office men and women who will do that first and foremost in t heir own lives.

We need t o stop putting tax dodgers in charge of the tax code/s, we need to stop putting drug users in charge of stopping the drug trade and we need to stop putting people who hate the military in charge of running the military.

And when we elect someone to office he or she needs to be ready and willing to do the same as they want us to do. And they need to do it first!

For example, currently the men and women in congress want to foist on us a health care plan that they wouldn’t find acceptable for themselves. If they want us to participate they ought to jump in to it first and wholeheartedly.
In Social security/ Retirement; they need to be willing to pay into the system the same as everyone else and they need to have that as their automatic retirement deal not specialized retirement plans that are in place INSTEAD of social security. And when they start screaming that the rich need to pony up some dough to help out the poor and destitute, THEY need to open THEIR wallets, THEIR Pocketbooks and THEIR checking accounts and shoveling the money out to the poor FIRST BEFORE they go pushing it on everyone else.
Like John Kerry, married into the Heinz fortune, he is a millionaire. He is demanding higher taxes for all those poor people to benefit from, but he refuses to give his business to the American worker, and he finds every chance he can to keep from paying taxes on his stuff.
For example he wanted a yacht, he didn’t want to pay the business fees or taxes to have it built here so he has it built in NEW ZEALAND and then shipped here, when it gets here he decides the taxes in Massachusetts HIS OWN STATE THAT HE REPRESENTS IN CONGRESS, are too high and he doesn’t want to pay them so he keeps the yacht in A DIFFERENT STATE (I think it’s Rhode Island).

BUT he thinks the way to make all the other rich people pay and therefore stimulate our economy is to raise taxes and the other rich (not himself) people out there and have THEM pay the rates that HE REFUSES to.

Same with the President. The man has a million dollar mansion in Illinois. But I do not see him saying “hey let’s try to spend some of OUR money to help the needy and the poor.” Nope, in fact while he insists that everyone else in our country has to stop going to Vegas because of the gambling and cut back on expenses his wife goes on a huge shopping spree in Spain. (how is that tightening the belt? Next thing you know they will visit Monte Carlo since they‘re so close anyway.)

And this is true and has been true for a long time.
The Kennedy’s, John McCain, Yeah this is about the only “bipartisan” event in Washington today.

What we need in office are people who KNOW what it is like to operate on a small budget and who will start at home.
I have always thought and maintained that the best boss, the best LEADER is the one who will never ask anyone to do something that he himself isn’t willing to do.
And I still stand by that.
So this year we elect new people to congress. Let’s elect people who will show the nation how to do instead of people who say “do what I say not what I d o.” That will be a good start to the kind of leadership we need.
