A new civil war???

Lately I have been a little concerned about some of the issues I have been seeing. They are really reminiscent of what led up to the Civil war of 150 years ago. As I was trying to explain what I was seeing to my wife she summed it up with the sentence, “It’s Never, always just one thing.”

Now out of context that sounds like a strange sentence... Even improper but it really does make sense!
Today if you ask anyone who has had a basic public school education what caused the civil war, or what was the point behind the civil war. The answer you will get is “it was to stop slavery.”

Now that statement was true… for SOME of the people involved/ when you think about John Brown and the underground railroad and so on yeah that does make a compelling argument.

My follow up Question though seems to be unanswerable by those same people.

If the reason the southern states seceded from the union was BECAUSE of the slavery issues than why did they secede BEFORE THE EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION CAME OUT???

Alternatively if Abraham Lincoln was so eager to take the battle to the south, was doing so because of slavery why did he WAIT through three years of war before signing the Emancipation proclamation?

See the Issue that led to the civil war was NOT JUST slavery, there were several reasons. The states that seceded listed state rights as their main grievance, NOT SLAVERY.

Today I am hearing the same cry for state rights being called for. And as we watch the federal government trample on state rights I am worried that we are going the same way.

What do I mean about state rights?

Here’s a laundry list…

The 10th amendment tells us that any right/s NOT EXPRESSLY GIVEN TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IN THE CONSTITUTION remains a right for the state/s and or the people.

We have seen The federal Government tell the states that they HAVE to administer Obama’s health care program, but that is NOWHERE in the constitution.
The constitution does NOT give the federal government the right to mandate that people have to have health insurance, neither does it say the government can tell us that we have to purchase a private product at a price the private company chooses to levy.

The Accident in the gulf of Mexico resulting in the large spill of crude oil was handled poorly and one of he reasons that it became such a large disaster was because the Federal Government denied the states the means to fight the damage.

Now the federal government is suing a state because that state said "enough ,If you will not fulfill your obligation and stop the international crime spree that is pouring into this state WE WILL."

So to sum up… The federal Government has said to the states,
You have to force your citizens to buy this product because we say so.
You cannot stop an ecological disaster because we don’t want to see anyone able to fix it when we won’t.
You cannot protect yourself from being robbed, raped, murdered, or you can’t stop your kids from being molested or kidnapped or hooked on drugs or given STD’s, because we want to have illegal immigrants.

These are the reasons that there are issues going on here.

The other side are trying to make it a smaller issue though. They are belittling the arguments given there.

See liberals like to make it all about Emotions.
“you are just being racist.” “you are so cruel trying to deny people the freedoms you have.”
“these people aren’t causing all the crimes.”

I notice they can never cite any facts to support their side... but that is a small concern.
And yet at the same time that they try to make those arguments their actions show they know otherwise. If there is not, as they claim, a problem at the southern border with criminal activity from these “safe, poor migrants” then why do they have to post signs warning people to stay away because of the danger?

This week alone on four separate occasions I heard four different representatives of our Federal government declare something along the lines of “the federal government can do what it wants, no matter who is hurt, the states have no say and what the people want is immaterial.”

This was said in a democrat’s town hall meeting, the senator is who said it, this was said by a judge in California AND a judge in Arizona when they ruled on the laws put in place BY the people or states in question. And this was said by Robert Gibbs the press secretary for the president when he was questioned about the law passed in Missouri stating that the federal gov’t could not impose the health care debacle on it’s citizens.

I believe this attitude is dragging us to the next civil war. And that is something that I would not wish on my children… on the other hand I would prefer a civil war to the new slavery that this government is trying to place on my children, AND grandchildren.
