Currently our country is in turmoil, the parties are sniping at each other and many people are refusing to talk to one another, refusing to hear the other side.
At times like this I worry that we have not learned the lessons of history, and we are doomed to repeat them.
We just had an election year go past and I was shocked at the anger so many showed, people were arguing about things that really ought not to have been argued about.
We are seeing some amazing, and frightening, upheavals lately, both at home and abroad. Rioting, and violence are reaching unprecedented levels, people are more worried about our environment and society than ever before.
Between the gang violence the drug issues, (several states had legalizing marijuana on their ballots this year) and we all know what we have seen going on in the news regarding the illegal aliens issues; (all our family in Arizona are on the front lines in this) we don’t know what to do.
People are angry WITH REASON. Some are frightened some are scornful but there is no one listening to anyone else.
Now that I am raising a family of my own I know what these mean to me in a different way than I ever did before. I worry (some say too much) about what my children will have in their future/s.
I want to give them the chance to have, well, a chance! A chance to prosper! A chance to love, a chance to live and a chance, like the one Martin Luther King Jr. was looking for in his “I have a dream speech”, to be free and equal, TRULY equal; Not just a reversal of the status quo.
We need to start from a common point! I think that common point is found in our declaration of independence, All men are created equal and we all have certain inalienable rights and among these rights are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
I feel I need to point out that these are the guarantees given to AMERICAN’S by AMERICAN documents. They say so themselves. We are a people group that is very diverse but we are ALL American’s first and foremost. Not “Irish Americans”, or “Hispanic Americans” or “African Americans”. we are all A M E R I C A N S! period no hyphenations no descriptive words necessary. We are all Americans. We have an obligation as Americans to maintain our nation’s sovereignty and to participate in our political system.
Beyond that, I think in order to have true equality we need to seek for all people, everyone to have the same chance/s not for any one people group to get something another group doesn’t have; and not an attempt to get even with a group that you think has oppressed yours.
And I think everyone needs to be ready to sit down and listen, REALLY listen to what the other group has to say.
Weigh the facts, study the truth/s and listen to the opinion/s.
I often have heard people tell me how “open minded” they are, but when push came to shove they had their beliefs and opinions well set and they would not hear the opposing viewpoint. That is not open-mindedness!
To listen only to a viewpoint you believe and not hear the other side is Close - minded. And to not even accept defeat when the opposing side presents an infallible argument, instead clinging irrationally to beliefs that have been drummed into you… well that is obstinate.
I find it alarming, in this day and age to see these things coming to pass again, yes I said again.
I believe that before each of the few major wars fought on our land/s (here in America that is) we saw either a refusal to have a true two way conversation, or the needs/ desires/ frustrations of one side were ignored.
The American colonies had grievances which weren’t being heard and the revolutionary war happened, people in both the south and the north didn’t listen and the Civil war happened.
So where will this current road lead us? I fear to find out.
I hope that this year will find you peace, joy and prosperity. I hope that things start getting better and that people wake up before it is too late, and I hope that we all may live out our lives (the children too) in happiness and contentment seeing nothing but improvement throughout this year and all the future years.
Anyway, I hope that my fears don’t materialize and so I say a prayer for all of you now And I wish you the best of Christmases and the greatest of New Years.

SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE
In a recent debate a couple of candidates got into an argument over the issue of the 1st Amendment. Most people cite the amendment as the “separation of church and state” amendment. The problem is that the amendment in question NEVER says separation of church and state and there is a good reason for that.
First let’s look at what the amendment does say and why.
“congress shall make no laws regarding the establishment of a religion.” that is the PRECISE wording, and the reason they put that in place was because they had seen the problem/s associated with a government sponsored religion. Now most people try to say that what this means is that we all ought to make sure that our elected officials do not do anything that could cause someone to choose one religion over another.
But if you REALLY look at all the facts you see otherwise.
The founding fathers would have been very aware of the horrors and travesties placed on people when Government tells them who what or where to worship. Even the bible warns about the folly of Government interfering with worship. (just look at the biblical stories of Daniel and Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.) But they were also all devout followers of God. The wording in the constitution makes it clear that What they intended was that the government, namely the part of government that makes the laws, would not FORCE people to join any religion, and neither could the government DENY anyone of following their religious beliefs.
And that ruling applies to ALL Americans, not just the noisy ones.
Even the Police Officer, the President, the teachers, the senators we all see and deal with every day have the right to worship HOWEVER THEIR RELIGION TELLS THEM!!!
It does not matter if they are Muslim, Hindu, Christian, Buddhist, Taoist or even Wiccan.
The ONLY possible exception to the right for anyone to worship as they see fit is when that worship deprives someone of their basic right/s. so if you practice human sacrifice then you cannot do it here because the “sacrifice” has the inalienable right to life, and so on.
The founding fathers CERTAINLY never meant for people to use this amendment to bully people away from their faith like it is used today. We are as bad now of the heinous crime of denying people their right to worship as they see fit as the church of England was in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
People back then were condemned to prison because they disagreed with the church of England and worshipped how they wanted, today they are facing THE EXACT SAME PUNISHMENT, FOR THE EXACT SAME REASON.
So I say it is time to wake up people! Face the facts, Know your history And READ the constitution.

TO VOTE OR NOT TO VOTE:
I Want to tell you a story, I will call this the one vote story.
I will start at the end. Texas’ statehood. Now I am assuming that my readers are all the truly intelligent people out there. So I do not need to repeat that Texas was voted in as the 28th state in 1845.
But what you may not know is that Texas was admitted… well let me put it this way, Texas needed at least 36 votes to gain statehood. The votes gave Texas Statehood by one vote.
They got admitted as a state because of ONE (1) vote. The surprise was that a senator who voted for them, one of those truly NEEDED votes was Harrigan a senator from Indiana, in fact there was surprise that he voted for Texas’ statehood because he seemed opposed. But I digress…
(“yeah but he was a congressman, my vote doesn’t count like that.”)
Well then, let’s see how Harrigan came to be a congressman.
6 years earlier, in 1839, State Legislator Madison Marsh Voted for Senator Harrigan, there was a toss up over who would be voted into congressional office as the junior senator, it was up to the state legislators, to pick the position for which Harrigan ran. There were three people running for the position and there ended up a three way tie in the legislation. Madison Marsh was THE deciding vote on Harrigan’s election. In fact the Amazing thing is that Harrigan won by ONE vote
Well, well, well… very nice but still he was a state legislator, I am just a “common man” what difference can I make?
Hmm O.K….
In 1837 Madison Marsh was running as a candidate for state legislator. And what do you know… he was elected into office based on ONE VOTE.
But for that one vote that election would have ended in a tie. AND that vote was cast by an average everyday guy. In Indiana he was probably a farmer who worked with his hands everyday, just like most of us today.
See even though we might want to say this election doesn’t matter it does. We have issues coming up to deal with and we need to make sure we are properly represented.
A long time ago One man one vote made the difference to whether Texas would be a state or not. Do you think that was the thought he had when he voted? No He was voting for the guy HE thought would best represent him, who voted for a guy who he thought would do the right thing nationally who voted for Texas.
The guy casting that vote for state legislator could never have known that that would lead to anew state being added to the union.
But that one vote that he cast helped to change a nation’s history in a way that has been recognized worldwide though he is not well remembered today. Your vote can do the same now.

ELECTION 08 NO WAIT I MEAN 2010:
Well here we are again, another election year. And things are running about par for the course (just like two years ago),indeed Mr. Obama is campaigning much like in the last election... guess someone forgot to tell him he won, he is the president, but all that aside, we need to remember as we go to cast our ballot/s that we need to make ourselves aware of the issues and the realities.
Do not pull the lever for the guy you think is “coolest” or the girl who is the “hottest” instead when you vote, vote to the issues. Don’t vote based on party or appearance or even feeling, vote based on what is right.
Too many times we seem to get caught up in the idea that I have to vote for_______________ because I registered as a ______________.
That is not true.
I would actually encourage every one out there to go watch the Kevin Costner movie “Swing Vote” before voting themselves. your vote CAN make a difference.*
So cast your ballot for the one who will do what is right. If you can look at the way your candidate/s have voted before. Did he/she vote the way YOU would vote?
What does s/he say? More importantly what does he/she DO? (actions speak louder than words!) I do not care if someone claims to be against taxes, did that person increase taxes? Then what was said is moot.
Look at the candidates! Don’t be taken in by the hyperbole. You will hear candidates of both sides telling you how evil their opponents are; and even if there is any truth to what is being said it will be blown out of proportion, like the candidate who wants to cut taxes and eats eggs for breakfast… it will be said “he/she supports defunding the army and eats baby chickens!!! OOOHHHH THOSE POOR BABY CHICKENS!!!” find out the truth, please, this year look at what they represent, look at the real issues.
*Yes I know that as a movie that would be a FICTIONAL account therefore it is NOT REAL. But that is the thing that CAN happen even though it is fictional. A guy once observed that “The thing about fiction is it has to stick with what COULD happen to be believable, truth does not.”
Still don’t believe? Study what happened to make Texas a state.

LOOKING AT IT SARCASTICALLY:
I thought I needed to make it clear that this was going to be a sarcastic posting because I think some people really think this way.
Don’t you realize how utterly evil conservatives are? I mean they are worse than Hitler or Saddam Hussein or the emperor Nero.
I mean hello they think that people ought to be responsible FOR THEIR OWN BEHAVIOR!!!!!!
THEY feel bad for the guy in the hospitwl who was attacked by a mass murderer, the guy had a good life he must have gotten what he deserved right? But then the conservatives, those evil Hateful conservatives would say that the poor mass murderer ought to pay a penalty for depriving others of their lives.
I mean come on we need to give that poor guy a break, CLEARLY he had to have been pushed into it by forces beyond his control.
Maybe he was abused as a child by a mean parent (they’re all mean don’t you know) who would not let him go out and play in the street at 1 o clock in the morning, or they wouldn’t let him eat candy for dinner instead they forced him t eat VEGETABLES so it isn’t his fault that he turned into a mass murderer.
Or maybe it is the drunk driver, hey alcoholism is a disease, we shouldn’t punish that alcoholic for driving while drunk and killing someone. It is beyond his/her control.
As for the poor family who lost their children/husband/father/wife/mother/brother/sister, because of the actions of that person well they obviously had better lives than he did so they got all the happy they deserved. The poor drunk didn’t get that so he deserves to have good happen to him now.
After all “only those who have it can lose it”. so clearly the conservatives are EVIL because they have a totally skewed way of looking at things.
They want to (GASP) ENFORCE THE LAWS… I mean HELLO what kind of nutty idiocy is that??? They want to have real Equality for everyone. Can’t you see now how bad these people are?
Liberals are right this kind of rampant craziness has got to be stopped, before we see equality, justice, common sense and integrity break out all around the place

OOPS, EXCUSE ME:
Ok, OK I have really fallen behind here. To be honest politics are making me feel ill right now. The vapidity and wrangling of both parties are driving me mad. So I took a bit of a “sick leave” from this so I could try to recover. (I might have to race to the bathroom though so please excuse me if I make a run for it in the middle of this.)
I find it interesting though that the Democrats are looking at the tea party and thinking that the republicans are to divided while at the same time the democrat candidates up for reelection are trying to distance themselves from Obama as fast as they can.
I heard a report recently that Mr. Obama went to NYC for a fundraiser. When he was elected there were tons of people who voted for him, but when he showed up for this fundraiser they couldn’t give away the tickets.
This was reported by the Washington post!
The venue would seat 650 people.
Tickets were on sale for $100 (not a thousand or Anything real in cash just one hundred dollars… heck I could have afforded THAT.)
They ended up having to mark them down to FIFTY dollars.
And they still couldn’t sell all the tickets (they fell about 200 people short of their capacity.)
MIND YOU this was so people could sit down to dinner with THE PRESIDENT of the United States of America!
So I have to wonder which party is really ripping apart?
Maybe it is time to replace BOTH parties with politicians who will…
(a) listen to their constituents,
(b) Do what they say they will,
(c ) put the good of the people and this country before their own selfish wants.
That seems to be what every one else in this country wants, and I think it is time for the politicians in office to hear that message.

SCHOOLING ISSUES:
The other night I heard a debate about schooling stuff. The debate was talking about should we “test” teachers on the job they are doing.
On the one hand they often seem to have their hands tied on the other hand they are tasked with the next generation/s coming up.
The point was made that the elementary students are being given too much homework and are unable to complete it just due to sheer volume.
I think the real problem with that is that they are being told to memorize not think.
My wife went to college to teach elementary age children, And while she was a student teacher in her final year she worked with a wonderful lady named Suzie. Suzie believed the way children ought to be taught is they ought to learn how to THINK, once they have that most of the stuff you try to teach them will be easy because they can figure it out.
Notably, to me, Suzie would approach Math that way. She taught the third grade and usually when a student came into her class that child was struggling with mathematics that a second grader of the 40’s would have found simplistic.
When they left her class the teachers who got these kids were always amazed that the kid/s they received from Suzie’s class were not only better at math then their counterparts from other schools, sometimes they were almost prepared to look at college level courses. BECAUSE THEY COULD THINK THE PROBLEMS THROUGH.
Kids always want to know why, you ever notice that? Just try talking to a two year old for 20 minutes and you will see what I mean. See the thing is “why” is about how things work what processes are involved to reach the point that you are at. If you tell a two year old you need to do something (“feed the fish”) the child will ask “why” you will tell him or her, (If we don’t feed the fish it might get sick and die.”) what does the child ask?… “Why” then you explain the next part, (“because everything living needs to eat so that they can use the food to make them strong and healthy.”) and this will go on and on until the child has logged in his or her head the whole process. Then that child can use THOUGHT to extrapolate other scenarios. (“the fish needs to eat to be strong and healthy and not die, the dog needs to be fed because if it is not then IT might get sick and die.”)
That is what learning is about, it isn’t that the child is taught to memorize though some might think that is the case (“child memorized the fact that living things need to eat.”) right? NO the child took that information and used it to think. If all the child had done was memorized you end up with LOTS of happy, FAT fish… and all the doggies are starving.
We need to teach kids to think, we need to show kids the way to be able to take things like math and figure out how to make it go. There is no “why” being taught because “why” is thinking, NOT memorizing. Sadly I have been a victim of the memorizing process and so to, I think, have most of our teachers.
And if you think about it the way people are taught is usually the way they will teach, so the system is feeding back on itself and the process of rote memorization is getting worse while the ability to think falls further behind.
Here is the “negative example” that proves my point.
I have a math learning disability, and I was further damaged by the public school’s insistence on the memorization form of education.(it never took, I think now that it wasn‘t a math problem it was memorization problems).
Later when I tried taking a college math class I was out of my depth, when I tried to address the problems I had (the teacher was confusing the whole class and couldn‘t put the math in a format that the students could understand, he expected thinking not memorization.) I went to the head of the math department who said, AND I QUOTE, “it is not the teacher’s job to teach it is the student’s job to learn.”
Well the first problem with that approach is that the students, ALL of the students, were taught to memorize NOT THINK, how can the student learn in that environment? In order to learn from experience you have to be able to think it through. You are setting the student/s up to fail.
Second of all if it is not the teacher’s job to teach but the student’s job to learn; Why am I, the student, having to pay out the money? Every other job I have ever had I got paid for doing the work, in school I am paying the teacher through class fees, so, conversely, what are they getting paid for? (if they’re not doing any work.)
Well I am outta here, until next time…
On the one hand they often seem to have their hands tied on the other hand they are tasked with the next generation/s coming up.

IS IT LOVE OR WHAT?:
I know you all have me down as some kind of hatemonger now or whatever but let’s think about the motivation here.
Why do homosexuals want to get married? They already have civil unions, marriage to my way of thinking is a spiritual thing and I do not know of that many religions that condone Homosexuality.
As I said they have civil unions they get partner health care services at work that is as good as or better then what married couples get they have had the Defense of marriage act challenged on their behalf (DOMA) they get all the privileges, rights, support and benefits that go to a married couple. But they still want “marriage” they still want the piece of paper. Why?
I mean let’s face it, as I said before the whole idea of marriage exists purely because of religion, and spiritual beliefs. The religion/s that have this concept do not include or condone The lifestyle so what is the deal here?
I think it is what I call the “give a mouse a cookie” syndrome.
If you have ever read the kids book “if you give a mouse a cookie” you see that it points out that next the mouse wants a glass of milk, then the mouse wants a straw then a napkin and so on until it goes full circle which is when it starts all over again.
But what drives this? Why can’t the homosexuals be satisfied with what they have? Why do they on have to keep taking on the attributes of the things others have?

HOW LIBERALS AND ISLAM LIKE TO TWIST THE LAW:
This Mosque thing is really pushing it for me now. People keep jumping up and down and throwing hissy fits about how we need to let the mosque be built… after all “freedom of religion” right?
I think it is funny how when a Christian wants to pray in the nations capital that isn’t allowed because it is supposed to be “separation of church and state” but when a Muslim wants to build a mosque it’s freedom of religion.
This Mosque issue is a classic example of my point. They have received all the permission/s or permits, and they have all the liberals eating out of their hands… (ok, ok MOST of the famous news making liberals) to build this mosque just a few blocks from ground zero of the WTC.
But there is a Greek orthodox church (read CHRISTIAN) that existed BEFORE THE ATTACKS OF 9-11, which was damaged beyond usefulness from the attacks and they cannot get the permits to rebuild. See there? It is a classic case of preferential treatment by the left. They twist the law and say they are in favor of freedom of religion, after all it is in the constitution, and yet they are doing all they can to stop another, Christian, church from building where they ought to have a perfect right to build based on already existing there.
The arguments used by these people to support why the mosque can or should be built would apply as easily to the Greek orthodox church… BUT THEY AREN’T.
IT is duplicitous.
Similarly also a recent news event, is the case of a Muslim woman who wants to wear her ceremonial headdress to work at Disney land. They say no, it isn‘t in the dress code and it doesn’t match with the uniforms (“Costumes“) of Disneyland* so she sues… “IT’S FREEDOM OF RELIGION, IT’S FREEDOM OF SPEECH.” yell the liberals, but if a Christian came in wearing a cross some of the same people who want to make Disney land accept the “religious” burden of this woman would scream about how AWFUL it is that this Christian is showing his or her faith, because “it’s separation of church and state.”
*there is actually even more to the story about the Muslim woman and her issue, apparently Disney went out of their way to try to find a solution including having the costume department design a headdress for her that would fit the uniform, placing her in an area where she could work where the uniform issue was not a problem or letting her take vacation time but she refused to accept any of their choices and insisted that she had to be allowed to do what she wanted and the employers, Disney, HAD to let her. Funny I always thought THE EMPLOYEE WORKED FOR THE COMPANY at the pleasure of the company’s bosses not vice a versa.

IT ISN’T ANECDOTE!
Sometimes I get so fed up with some liberals that it isn’t really funny.
Take for instance Wednesday night (8-11-10) usually I do not listen to a certain liberal Radio shock jock, and this particular evening I was reminded why.
He had on a guest who was a senator from Connecticut. She was a liberal and obviously so was he. They got to talking about the health care bill, and what she said was that republicans were against It for no good reason and the people were against it just because of the scare tactics by the republicans. The thing is that they would not have listened to me.
I AM not a republican! I am a conservative. I register as an independent and I like it that way because in my experience neither party is listening to me or anyone else and they sure have not been addressing my basic needs let alone wants.
Had this radio personality and his guest been willing to hear from me, I would have GLADLY told them why it is that I have a problem with this health care bill. And first and foremost the reason why I have a problem is because it does NOTHING for me but it takes a lot FROM me.
I am EXACTLY the kind of person that Obama is describing (or was) when he is talking about people wanting Health care but not affording it, and I am also someone who ends up having to use the ER as my primary care physician.
But NOTHING in the so called reform act will be of any benefit to me.
They covered the complaints that pundits have made on the conservative side against this bill.
Specifically they talked about…
The point that insurance rates will sky rocket, their view? “ they were going up anyway.”
The point that businesses were going to let people go (fire) due to the costs being put on them. The senator’s response? “ the businesses can get a lot of help from the government, up to a third of the costs incurred by the business the Government will cover, and if a business has fewer than 50 employees they are exempt. That STILL leaves an increase in cost to the non exempt business by the 2/3 not paid, and even if they are telling the truth about exempt status then the employees of those businesses are STILL screwed and without coverage.
This is an increase in costs. Their response? No this is a lessening of costs, right now all these people end up going to the ER as their primary care physician, once they have insurance they will instead go to a real doctor (like ER doctors are fakes) and they will get good preventative treatment so it doesn’t get so expensive. This is a bad one because it assumes… first it assumes that people will start going to a doctor every few months for checkups and the like. Second it assumes that there are doctors in the areas who will take the government backed insurance, re Medicare.
I am actually going to stop there, I got so totally frustrated with the program that is about where I shut it off anyway, (and it took me about half an hour to truly calm down again after wards.
But let me address this from my experience.
Rates might have been going up before but immediately after the passage of the health care package the insurance rates doubled or tripled! I have seen this kind of thing seeing what goes on in my place of work. My workplace had to let people go because of the increase in operating costs being put on them, particularly in a time of recession. I believe the DOUBLING of insurance can be counted as one of the costs they are dealing with.
I and many others like me are still going to have to use the ER as our primary care facilities. It does not matter if the government says I have to buy insurance or go to jail, I cannot buy insurance BECAUSE I CANNOT AFFORD IT.
All my money goes to the basics of life like Rent, clothes, food, gas, electric and water et al.
There is literally NO ROOM in my budget to add Health Insurance especially at the rates they have been driven to by this government interference. Also I would like to point out that when I was on Medicare for a while a few years ago, there was not a doctor within 30 miles of my home who was taking Medicare. So even if I was able to get it I still wouldn’t be able to see a doctor because there isn’t one near me.
The host, I know, would respond to what I have to say with the response, “ well that’s all anecdotal evidence.” I know because that is how he has always responded to this kind of point. “well that may be your experience but it’s really just anecdotal and doesn’t mean anything.” (Yes that IS a direct quote.)
He claims to be open minded but I have realized with this type of person what they really mean by open minded is. “ I will hear and believe any facts or anything you say/do AS LONG AS IT MATCHES WITH WHAT I BELIEVE OR WANT TO BELIEVE.” In other words, So open minded that he can’t hear the real facts of an issue and how they are affecting people, because they conflict with his belief system.

I WISH THEY WOULD START AT HOME:
I have often heard it said that we “need to fix our problems at home before going out to fix the problems of the world.”
And I agree. The thing is that this goes even deeper. Here in America we seem to have a problem with looking to ourselves. We ALWAYS expect someone else to fix our problems while we run off to fix others.
I think that needs to change. But before it can, we need to elect into office men and women who will do that first and foremost in t heir own lives.
We need t o stop putting tax dodgers in charge of the tax code/s, we need to stop putting drug users in charge of stopping the drug trade and we need to stop putting people who hate the military in charge of running the military.
And when we elect someone to office he or she needs to be ready and willing to do the same as they want us to do. And they need to do it first!
For example, currently the men and women in congress want to foist on us a health care plan that they wouldn’t find acceptable for themselves. If they want us to participate they ought to jump in to it first and wholeheartedly.
In Social security/ Retirement; they need to be willing to pay into the system the same as everyone else and they need to have that as their automatic retirement deal not specialized retirement plans that are in place INSTEAD of social security. And when they start screaming that the rich need to pony up some dough to help out the poor and destitute, THEY need to open THEIR wallets, THEIR Pocketbooks and THEIR checking accounts and shoveling the money out to the poor FIRST BEFORE they go pushing it on everyone else.
Like John Kerry, married into the Heinz fortune, he is a millionaire. He is demanding higher taxes for all those poor people to benefit from, but he refuses to give his business to the American worker, and he finds every chance he can to keep from paying taxes on his stuff.
For example he wanted a yacht, he didn’t want to pay the business fees or taxes to have it built here so he has it built in NEW ZEALAND and then shipped here, when it gets here he decides the taxes in Massachusetts HIS OWN STATE THAT HE REPRESENTS IN CONGRESS, are too high and he doesn’t want to pay them so he keeps the yacht in A DIFFERENT STATE (I think it’s Rhode Island).
BUT he thinks the way to make all the other rich people pay and therefore stimulate our economy is to raise taxes and the other rich (not himself) people out there and have THEM pay the rates that HE REFUSES to.
Same with the President. The man has a million dollar mansion in Illinois. But I do not see him saying “hey let’s try to spend some of OUR money to help the needy and the poor.” Nope, in fact while he insists that everyone else in our country has to stop going to Vegas because of the gambling and cut back on expenses his wife goes on a huge shopping spree in Spain. (how is that tightening the belt? Next thing you know they will visit Monte Carlo since they‘re so close anyway.)
And this is true and has been true for a long time.
The Kennedy’s, John McCain, Yeah this is about the only “bipartisan” event in Washington today.
What we need in office are people who KNOW what it is like to operate on a small budget and who will start at home.
I have always thought and maintained that the best boss, the best LEADER is the one who will never ask anyone to do something that he himself isn’t willing to do.
And I still stand by that.
So this year we elect new people to congress. Let’s elect people who will show the nation how to do instead of people who say “do what I say not what I d o.” That will be a good start to the kind of leadership we need.

Mosque mosque mosque
The thing about the mosque in New York is the builders have declared they are doing this to ease the suffering of the people of America. A kind of “look we are all ok and we love and ought to love and forgive and heal the great wounds and divide.
The thing is if that was really how they felt then why is it that when the people who were hurting and suffering from the events of 9-11 said NO! We do not want that Mosque there, the builders said tough noogies we will build it because we can.
That is NOT a spirit of reconciliation, it is not a kind loving gesture, this is a ram it down the throat hateful hurtful approach to making those who lost loved ones suffer more.
This is the action/s of a conquering army saying we won now you have to suck it up as we do whatever we want.
This is how the Nazis acted when they took France this is how the Japanese acted when they took over China and this is how the English and the French acted when they conquered most of the world in their time.
That is why people have issue I think.
Of course there is the other side who insist that this is just a display of bigotry, or racism on the part of the American’s who are against the mosque.
Maybe we need to stop throwing accusations and really take a look around at the reality facing us today.
Those who want to claim that the only way to solve the issues facing us from Islamic extremists is to compromise or through diplomacy, do not understand what we are facing.
Let me explain what these people want.
They want you dead, they want me dead, they want our children DEAD. PERIOD end of discussion. There is no compromise because there cannot be any compromise if you are alive they are unhappy and they will not, CAN not rest until you are dead… and everyone else who does not believe like they do.
They have been fighting against every other religion, country, ideology or reality for hundreds of years.
They have blown up Buddha’s, they have taken over Synagogues, they have decimated churches all over the world.
There is no diplomacy that can exist with them. You can try to offer them appeasement by turning over the Jews, but they will simply kill the Jews and then hunt for you.
You can offer them the conservative right in America and they will kill every one of them then turn to kill you.
If you offer any opinion that is against their way of thinking then they HAVE to KILL you.
If you are Gay they have to kill you, if you are Jewish they have to kill you, if you are atheist they have to kill you if you are Christian they have to kill you, if you are communist they have to kill you.
The only thing they want is YOU DEAD. And that is the point that we have to get through our heads.
Don’t believe me?
What happened to all the statues of Buddha that USED to exist there(in Afghanistan)? They blew them all up.
What happened to the Jewish Synagogues and temples that existed in the former lands of Israel? All taken over by Muslims and converted to their wants, what happens RIGHT now in The Gaza strip and modern Israel? The Muslims are trying to kill all the Jews, What happened when a cartoonist drew a picture they found offensive? They put a bounty on his head and death threats against him. What happened here on 9-11-2001? Muslim extremists blew up the WTC, what happened to Russia when they were in Afghanistan? They were killed in droves and the same happens to us now. (ok ok they might have a bit of a point in the realm of self defense on that last one but we wouldn’t be there if they hadn’t come over here to attack us first.)
What happens in Turkey when a Muslim converts? TO ANY OTHER FAITH? I have seen the reports and I can tell you a convert from Islam is killed out of hand because that is an offense punishable by death.
Although here is an interesting thought, When is the last time you saw a Christian or a Jew or a Mormon or a Hindu or a Buddhist or a Taoist act that way?

THE POWER OF THE MEDIOCRE:
I find it fascinating to watch a society deliberately flush itself down the toilet.
WHAT???? Yes that’s right you heard me. It Amuses me no end to see a society try SOOOOOO HARD to drag itself down and tear itself apart.
Although I do have to admit that I find it a little disturbing when this is happening in MY society.
Why would I say that our society is trying to tear itself apart? Simple… LOOK AROUND YOU!
Once upon a time we had a country, a society which strove to excel. We had people in this country who were proud of their achievements. They were strong and capable and they lifted us all up with their capableness. (yes I am making up words)
Children today are being told that what they do doesn’t matter as long as they feel good, the thing is that they cannot feel good without the accomplishments that lift them up. But Our society has too many people who will as stand in their way and tell them… “no no no you can’t excel you can’t be strong you can’t be smart because if you are then those who are not will feel bad.
I liken it to the problem that was becoming very apparent when I was a child in public school. Anyone who showed that they were smarter or more capable intellectually were made fun of they were called geeks and nerds and they were regularly bullied.
The bullies couldn’t stand to look bad so they had to find some way that they could hold back the ones who were… well let’s face it Better.
There is a peculiar mindset out there in some people… a lot of people, that if they want to look better they have to drag others down. This is the lazy way out. Instead of trying to grow and improve themselves they try to drag back everyone else so they look better in comparison.
It’s kind of like in the movie big with Tom Hanks.
When he gets a job working on computers in the toy company he finds the work to be so easy that a child could zip through it in no time at all. But the guy in the next cubicle tells him to slow down, because [hank’s] is making him look bad. The man was lazy and didn’t want to improve himself, so instead he tells his coworkers to do worse than they were capable of so he would look better.
Well I think that what has really happened is those self same bullies, with those attitudes grew older but never grew UP. And those are the idiots who are now trying to tell us, and our children, “don’t worry about being good or doing good… just as long as you feel good.
This attitude started coming out in the 60’s and is still going strong. Just watch TV ads and you will see what I mean. in fact if you watch long enough you will see that our society has now accepted mediocrity as the new “standard of excellence”.
Today it starts with commercials like Nike’s “just do it” campaign or Calgon’s “take me away” theme which promoted/s the self over all else… look out for number one don’t worry about others, don’t try to make things better for everyone INCLUDING yourself, don’t excel!” just focus on you and yourself and try to make yourself feel better in other ways.
Now we have McDonald’s commercials and Pizza hut commercials declaring “it doesn’t matter if you fail you can still feel good abut yourself. Come and get__________” (fill in the blank).
Whether it is a happy meal or a personal pan pizza the message they are sending is, “don’t worry about succeeding or doing well at all, as long as you feel good it is ok.
This is another one of those points though.
The people of the United States didn’t gain their independence by feeling good about themselves they got their good feelings from gaining their independence.
The Allied forces in WW2 didn’t free the captives of the Axis powers by going around feeling better about themselves, they felt better about themselves by going in and freeing the people held captive.
So our society is in a downward spiral, apparently because of the greed and selfishness of small minded people who refuse to grow up or become greater than what they are. And that leads to mediocrity.
That’s the only conclusion I can come to, because otherwise it makes no sense. If our sense of self worth comes from within, and what we have within is all our abilities and strengths then to tell us to not try to exceed, not to use our strengths and abilities and have satisfaction in a job well done is to tell us to be miserable, to not excel is to be miserable! And that is what they are really teaching us.
Think about Helen Keller. Her nurse could have done like everyone else had done before and let the poor girl suffer in her little world shut off from all others. She could have said like so many do today and like so many did then for that matter, “why make her try to improve she will only get frustrated or angry or depressed.” But that nurse didn’t and because she was NOT afraid to work and excel and to cause Helen to excel that girl was able to become someone who had the self worth to do a lot of stuff.
And that, by the way, is the stuff of which legends are made.
Some other examples of people rising above and having a better sense of self worth for it?
Thomas Alva Edison,
Abraham Lincoln,
George Washington,
Louis Pasteur,
Rudy Rudiker,
Benjamin Franklin,
Elvis Presley,
Jim Morrison,
Tiger woods,
Basically if you have heard of them in a positive way… yeah that’s the point.

ELECTION ‘08... AGAIN!?!
Apparently the POTUS has decided that the way he needs to start out with the campaigning for this year (2010) must be done ALA ‘08.
He showed up in Dallas TX, declaring that we need to move away from the Bush policies, that we need to stay with the democrats, and that all the problems we are facing are Bush’s fault.
Apparently he has forgotten that he has already won the election against George W Bush.
What I found funny was that there was not a single Democrat politician on hand to meet Air Force 1 when it landed. The President had to shake hands with the REPUBLICAN governor of Texas, and it ought to be noted that neither man was really comfortable with that.
The Governor was willing to put aside differences though and be a congenial host. Obama was a less than model guest… but I digress.
In a speech he gave IN texas following the fiasco at the airport he said “when you get in a car and want to go somewhere, what do you do? You put it in D…” the idea being D is for drive and R is for reverse and since the word Republican starts with R that means they will “drag us back” but Democrat starts with D and that means Drive and that means moving forward.
The problem is that when you are nose deep in a ditch, you NEED to put it in reverse or even call a tow truck to pull you out.
Continuing to floor the gas while stuck is only going to make the situation worse.
Although there is one point that recently came to my attention that makes me think Obama IS overcoming the partisanship of the American people. He recently complained about Liberal Bloggers giving him a bad image. On one of my favorite talk shows (conservative) the host had a liberal blogger who pointed out that what Obama is doing in this country is becoming equally troublesome and unwanted for them.
So he seems to be overcoming the hatred each party has for the other simply by offering up a common enemy. Interesting plan Mr. President.

What does a broken record do?
So here we go again.
Time for a new warning! Now I do not love the current Administration in the White house, I have made that very clear.
Interestingly it would appear that all the ones who voted for him are also getting tired and sick of it.
All the polls have been lately (the past year and a half) have said he is getting very disliked, and he seems to have come up with a way that he thinks will fix his badly flagging numbers.
I have heard (and yes this is second hand so take it with a grain of salt) that he (Obama) plans to forgive part or all of the mortgages being held in Fanny may or Freddie mac. that's right in order to show how wonderful the Dem's are they plan to put us even further into debt paying the house loans off for all these people so that they will say "oh how wonderful he is!!!" and fall all over themselves again like they did in 2008. and that will lead, in the Dem's thinking, to people voting for the Dem's again.
Meanwhile in another part of the world... yes it is sounding like a bad "b" movie plot... Michele is on vacation... AGAIN spending $7,000 + of tax payers monies a day in Spain. and they (the Obama's) are planning a vacation together in the gulf next week or so.
I do not know how many vacations the current first family have taken, I lost count ages ago, but I would like the chance to have even a fraction of the chances to vacation like they do. they have been to Hawai'i and Spain and France and the Gulf of Mexico and Vermont and Colorado and... (wherever else) all in the space of a few years and ALL at our expense.
Last Sunday I heard a report from a talk show source that all of Obama's records have been lost or destroyed... HOW WEIRD IS THAT? he has NO life before showing up in office as a senator?
I have seen more information about the life and history of Jesus Christ then I have on Obama and to me that is weird.
He still insists on not releasing any of his records that DO still exist and I have to wonder why that would be, I mean honestly how fast could he shut up all his detractors just by saying "Oh yeah, here is my birth certificate, school records etc..." although someone has a picture purportedly of Obama with a childhood friend in Hawai'i when he claims he was in India. So all of this is adding up but he still doesn't show his records which means either he has something he is trying to hide or he is an idiot who refuses to be open even though he claims this is the most open Government we will ever have.
Is that it? is he an idiot? I hope not or maybe I do hope so because the alternative is that he is a malicious, cunning man with intent to destroy our country or alter it in way's that are destructive to our lives.
Not sure right now which is worse.

A new civil war???
Lately I have been a little concerned about some of the issues I have been seeing. They are really reminiscent of what led up to the Civil war of 150 years ago. As I was trying to explain what I was seeing to my wife she summed it up with the sentence, “It’s Never, always just one thing.”
Now out of context that sounds like a strange sentence... Even improper but it really does make sense!
Today if you ask anyone who has had a basic public school education what caused the civil war, or what was the point behind the civil war. The answer you will get is “it was to stop slavery.”
Now that statement was true… for SOME of the people involved/ when you think about John Brown and the underground railroad and so on yeah that does make a compelling argument.
My follow up Question though seems to be unanswerable by those same people.
If the reason the southern states seceded from the union was BECAUSE of the slavery issues than why did they secede BEFORE THE EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION CAME OUT???
Alternatively if Abraham Lincoln was so eager to take the battle to the south, was doing so because of slavery why did he WAIT through three years of war before signing the Emancipation proclamation?
See the Issue that led to the civil war was NOT JUST slavery, there were several reasons. The states that seceded listed state rights as their main grievance, NOT SLAVERY.
Today I am hearing the same cry for state rights being called for. And as we watch the federal government trample on state rights I am worried that we are going the same way.
What do I mean about state rights?
Here’s a laundry list…
The 10th amendment tells us that any right/s NOT EXPRESSLY GIVEN TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IN THE CONSTITUTION remains a right for the state/s and or the people.
We have seen The federal Government tell the states that they HAVE to administer Obama’s health care program, but that is NOWHERE in the constitution.
The constitution does NOT give the federal government the right to mandate that people have to have health insurance, neither does it say the government can tell us that we have to purchase a private product at a price the private company chooses to levy.
The Accident in the gulf of Mexico resulting in the large spill of crude oil was handled poorly and one of he reasons that it became such a large disaster was because the Federal Government denied the states the means to fight the damage.
Now the federal government is suing a state because that state said "enough ,If you will not fulfill your obligation and stop the international crime spree that is pouring into this state WE WILL."
So to sum up… The federal Government has said to the states,
You have to force your citizens to buy this product because we say so.
You cannot stop an ecological disaster because we don’t want to see anyone able to fix it when we won’t.
You cannot protect yourself from being robbed, raped, murdered, or you can’t stop your kids from being molested or kidnapped or hooked on drugs or given STD’s, because we want to have illegal immigrants.
These are the reasons that there are issues going on here.
The other side are trying to make it a smaller issue though. They are belittling the arguments given there.
See liberals like to make it all about Emotions.
“you are just being racist.” “you are so cruel trying to deny people the freedoms you have.”
“these people aren’t causing all the crimes.”
I notice they can never cite any facts to support their side... but that is a small concern.
And yet at the same time that they try to make those arguments their actions show they know otherwise. If there is not, as they claim, a problem at the southern border with criminal activity from these “safe, poor migrants” then why do they have to post signs warning people to stay away because of the danger?
This week alone on four separate occasions I heard four different representatives of our Federal government declare something along the lines of “the federal government can do what it wants, no matter who is hurt, the states have no say and what the people want is immaterial.”
This was said in a democrat’s town hall meeting, the senator is who said it, this was said by a judge in California AND a judge in Arizona when they ruled on the laws put in place BY the people or states in question. And this was said by Robert Gibbs the press secretary for the president when he was questioned about the law passed in Missouri stating that the federal gov’t could not impose the health care debacle on it’s citizens.
I believe this attitude is dragging us to the next civil war. And that is something that I would not wish on my children… on the other hand I would prefer a civil war to the new slavery that this government is trying to place on my children, AND grandchildren.

Surprise surprise surprise
I think we can take a page from that lovable doofus named Gomer Pyle.
So in Gomer Pyle speak... This cheer is a silly gov’t.
Now I have come to the realization that I cannot believe a word that comes from the mouth of the Commander in chief.
Everything he says is a lie period.
If he told me water was wet I wouldn’t be able to believe him.
He lied about GITMO (though that is not a problem for me personally)
He lied about taxes
He lied about being different than Bush (at least with the negative points that Bush had)
He lied about the gulf oil spill
He lied about the “T.A.R.P.” funds
He lied about the war in Iraq
He lied about the war in Afghanistan
He lied about improving the economy
He lied about being ready to govern the nation
He lied about protecting our borders
He lied about protecting and defending the constitution
He's lied about the recession
He lied about being a reconciler for race issues…
And the list just goes on and on.
So when he stands up to speak anymore and I hear more lies come out of his mouth I am forced to remember Gomer Pyle’s usual statement… Surprrrriiiizzze surprise surprise.
That’s what he said when things happened that weren’t really a surprise or ought not to have been anyway.
So here is one for Mr. Pyle may we always remember the wisdom that is packed in those six syllables.

My new blog schedule
Hello all.
I am so sorry that I have not been following up on my blog/s. the good news is that I will be tring to do a better job of it. I think there will have to be a schedule though. For my general blog I will try to post three or four times a week. The politically incorrect and Christian blogs though will be a once a week option.
It seems that for me I get so caught up in things that I tend to forget these things. (or I get so tired of being online that I give up before I get to the blog/s. so I will try to change that up.
I also sometimes cannot think of anything g to post. So I will have to switch on my brain a little more often. But I do want to post regularly and in such a way that it is pertinent and of value to my readers.
Thank you for your patience as I get my self sorted out.
Your’s faithfully…
Colt!

Narcissism Unleashed
Tonight as I was thinking about how I feel re: The Obama’s, I realized something.
I realized that, while I was originally not having a problem with the person, my problem was with the policies he (Mr. Obama) was promoting, I DO now have a problem with him and his policies both.
My problem originally did stem from the policies of the president; but his actions and the way in which he continuously pushes his ideas even when they have been proven wrong or bad really makes me question the sanity, or character, of the man pushing them.
I got to thinking about how I believe Mr. Obama is, at best, a well meaning fool, or ,as I believe now, a clinical narcissist who is displaying the worst traits of all the “Bad” leaders ever seen in history*
Any time any one points out how or why his plans will not work he denies the truth and tells everyone that even though everything is bad it isn’t really because he says so.
Case(s) in point…
The Health care “reform” he said “you can keep your doctor.” But now government studies done by HIS Government, PROVE that at least 50% of the existing plans offered by businesses will not fit into the “government” ideal so they will not be grandfathered. That’s right Obama says “you can keep your doctor” but now we see half of those currently in a plan will lose their plan and *GASP* therefore their doctor/s!
Also in the Health care “reform” he said, “This will hold down costs and make Health Insurance affordable for everyone.” And yet again his own Government agencies are saying “whoa wait a minute” as the new figures are coming out showing another rise in costs of about 30% coming in next years budget. What happened to the cheaper coverage?
Or how about the recession? “it is in recovery”. but there are no more jobs. This is being called a “jobless recovery“.
That means that there is a whole ‘nother bubble forming that will HAVE to pop and probably soon!
But Mr. Obama denies this possibility. “no no I made it all better…see?”.
Then there is the bad leader problem… not just denying the problem/s but fiddling while we burn…
Most easily this is seen in the Gulf oil spill… While millions of gallons of oil are spilling into this fragile eco-system, Obama is going out to dinners and having a good old time.
As the local authorities ask, beg, No PLEAD for help, they get nothing but a “we are investigating.” Or “Well it is really (finger points) his/their fault.” “so don’t look at us.”
Meanwhile Several people, companies and nations (yes NATIONS) have offered help. They have offered the tools supplies and equipment we need to deal with the real problem but Obama has, if you can believe this… at first I couldn‘t, TURNED THEM ALL DOWN.
That’s right here is some MUCH NEEDED help being offered and Obama says Nope. He uses excuses like “well the businesses offering the help have been around doing the same thing/s for 30 years.” In other words the implication is the stuff being used/offered is 30 years old. We need NEW stuff…
My answer to that?
(a) It does NOT matter how old it is if it will do the job let’s get it in their working! And
(b) I have come to find out that the offers being made are the best technologies available PERIOD. These things he is putting down are actually way, way, WAY ahead of their time they are the best technologies in the world.
Speaking of the real problem in the gulf, What is the President's priority?
Well the president makes it down to the gulf and his reassurance for the people of this country is, “We will make sure all the seafood that comes from here will be safe to eat.” …
WAIT, … WHAT??????????????
Let’s look at the list of problems…
1. The Fragile eco-system is in extreme danger.
2. The brown Pelican, which was recently removed from the Endangered species list, will now, most likely, need to be put BACK on that list.
3. Hundreds or even thousands of jobs are lost.
4. All the gulf drilling that was happening has been stopped (against the expert’s recommendations**),
5. Tourism for the gulf states will take a nose dive.
6. The beaches, of up to four states so far, are destroyed for years.
7. Energy prices will likely climb.
8. People‘s faith in the government is destroyed.
9. And the oil continues on it’s merry way… about to hit the gulf stream which will take the oil up the entire eastern seaboard. It does this unimpeded because Obama refuses to deal with the real problems!
No he feels the real problem is what he, or we, will eat tomorrow… no REALLY that HAS to be the problem, right?
His concern, that he felt worthy of discussing, is We will make sure the seafood is ok.?!
HUH?
What the @!!!$ $%#&&^%$& %$%^)*&%# %$#&%_ (*&^(&%#&% ^$&^%_ (*^*&%&^ %$%$# %$(* &^_() (&)*&%%^##$
does SEAFOOD have to do with ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HOW is this a priority? And where are the real priorities in all this?
But what about Mrs. Obama? I mentioned them both at the beginning. Why would there be a problem for me with her?
Well I was verging on feeling sorry for her for being married to this idiot but then I remembered two things I heard/saw her do…
(1.) I saw her talking to a group of school kids… Good stuff huh? Encourage them, give them a positive message right?
But what she was telling them was “we have our own Olympic size swimming pool, we have our own bowling alley, we have our own movie theatre…”
And the kids were going aww, not as in awesome but rather as in why is it that we never even get to go to a movie let alone have a theatre of our own. ( the whiny aww that every parent knows so well.)
That is when it hit me, she wasn’t really encouraging the kids! That wasn’t her tone of voice.
She was bragging!
She was rubbing their noses in it like she had something to prove.
A kind of taunting Neiner niener moment like some teasing bully on the playground.
In fact I used to drive a school bus and what she was doing was EXACTLY the kind of thing I would stop under the district rule of “NO CRUEL TEASING.”
(2.) I also heard her say that she, essentially, wanted to make sure “people [were] eating [the way she thought they ought to] everywhere including at HOME”. And my view there is…
IT IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS WHAT I CHOOSE TO DO WITH MY OWN LIFE! Our country was founded on the principles of freedom and personal responsibility. I will take responsibility for myself thank you very much and you can keep your @^%%!&* nose out of my life Ma’am. THAT IS MY FREEDOM. And it is, quite frankly, none of your business what I choose to do in my home or with my life.

(BTW an impeachable offense if it can be proven all the way to the top.)
** He met with an “expert panel” to find out what his next move ought to be, or in his words so he could “know which A** to kick“.
They recommended AGAINST a moratorium on drilling because that would INCREASE the risk of future damages and even potentially increase damage now. (* Flash Flood in Arkansas, Flooding in Tennessee, Gulf Oil spill, Illegal immigrants on the borders of Arizona, War in Afghanistan, War in Iraq, Threat of war from Korea and Iran, Nuclear threats from the middle east, An alarming upswing in terrorist activity against Americans, {appx 10 KNOWN since he took office including the Christmas Panty bomber, The Somali Pirates… yes I count them… Major Hassan at Ft Hood, and the guy who left a car bomb in Times Square. That by the way is 9 MORE than we had during George W. Bush’s term in office… of course 9-11 was bigger over all but still…} The ongoing recession, the increase in national debt…)

Have their cake?
Ok so here is the thing. It has come to my attention that the liberals want to “have their cake and eat it too.” That was a statement once used to indicate that people are greedy and selfish and they don’t want to use something because they like having it but the whole point to having it is to use it.
Better yet let me use the Bible for an example.
In the old testament we read about how David lusted after another man’s wife (Uriah). Now this woman was, Apparently, quite the “hottie” and so David conspired to kill Uriah so that David could have Uriah’s wife.
One day a prophet came and confronted David over his sinful behavior but used an allegorical tale to get the point across.
The prophet told David a story about how there was a man who had a whole bunch of sheep; this man had a neighbor who only had one sheep.
One day the man with a whole bunch of sheep wanted to throw a party, in order to feed his guests he stole the one sheep from his neighbor and killed and cooked that sheep instead of one of his own.
When David declared that to be a heinous act the prophet pointed out to David that the man with many sheep was David himself, the man with one sheep was Uriah. Because David, even though he had a lot of wives AND concubines, stole the ONE wife of Uriah (in such a way that there was no way to return the stolen property).
You see? The man in this story, much like David himself, but more importantly to MY purpose this is the same concept of having it and eating it too. (or maybe it’s “the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence“…?)
David had everything he could want and then some. Uriah had only the one wife. But David was not content to enjoy what he had, he had to have everything of everyone else‘s.
That is what I see the liberals doing. They make claims and accusations about what horrors the conservatives are unleashing, wanting the people to “rise up” against the “totalitarians” of conservatism. (Hillary Clinton was quoted as saying “it is good for the American people to be able to question their gov’t” during Bush‘s presidency)
But when they do EXACTLY the same thing/s that they whined about conservatives doing they claim that they only have the best interests of the people in mind and any move to challenge the appropriateness of their actions are all just scare tactics and conservative bullying. (and we need to stop all these hateful people who dare to speak out against the government as per Hillary Clinton et al)
Which is to say… Why is it o.k. for Hillary Clinton to question and cast aspersions on Bush and his administration but it is NOT o.k. to do the same now that a democrat is in office? When she did it to Bush it was patriotic. When it is done to Obama it is terrorism or racism. I mean what is up with that?
Points in case…
Q: Why was President Bush so “evil”?
A: he got us into a war in Iraq. (but wait we are still there a year and a half after Obama took over) yeah but he is doing it for the “right reasons”. HUH?
Or…
A: Bush paid off those big banks and fat cats on wall street. (re: T.A.R.P. and stimulus)
Well now wait a minute, Obama spent TWICE as much or more, in his first two months, on exactly the same thing.
How about…
A: Bush put in the patriot act and listened to our phone calls.
Well now there you have me yeah he did that, oh but wait, Obama REINSTITUED the patriot act and now he listens to our phone calls AND reads our emails.
(that’s right the patriot act was due to expire and Obama not only went out of his way to continue it, he expanded it.)
A: Bush had prisoners at Guantanamo bay. Yep and they are still there under Obama’s watch too
A: There was not enough transparency in Bush’s admin. And Obama’s health care bill was all out in the open? I don’t think so. Even the liberal media hacks had to admit that Obama was not having an open gov’t there.
A: There isn’t enough bipartisanship in Bush’s admin.
Again looking at the healthcare bill which was passed without A Single republican vote…
A: Bush forced congress to pass bills he wanted but congress wanted to look at closer.
Funny but while I do not remember Bush “forcing” anything through congress, I DO remember Obama PUBLICLY berating congressional republicans that they “HAD TO” pass his stimulus package because “every day that we wait a million more Americans suffer” and then after he PUBLICLY FORCED congress to pass the bill HE wanted over their objections he took a three day vacation before he signed it. So apparently it was O.K. by him that three MILLION Americans (his hubris not mine) would suffer so he could have a vacation two months into his presidency. But congress HAD to pass it RIGHT AWAY without really looking at it so “Americans would not have to suffer” ?
So I guess in the end I have to say… I do not understand. Why was Bush so awful, while Obama is so great? They did the same things they do the same things, the same problems exist. And that is what makes me think the democrats are all simply hate filled.
Think about it. If Bush was evil for it then Obama should be even more so. I do NOT think that Bush did everything right but I do think he did a reasonable job under trying circumstances. But Obama is doing all the things wrong that Bush did wrong, he isn’t facing the same problems (he has it easy) and he is getting a pass where Bush didn‘t but Obama has none of the redeeming qualities of Bush.
He is a poor leader where I thought Bush was a good one, Obama has shown himself to be filled with deceit and coercion while I believe Bush treated us as fairly and honestly as he could.

you GO Arizona. you totally rock.
About three weeks ago I heard about a new law in Arizona that dealt with the subject of illegal immigration. The gist of what I heard was that Arizona had passed a law to try to stop the Illegal Immigrants from, well, breaking the law. And I applauded Arizona. I was proud again to be able to claim Arizona as my home state.
Then, almost immediately, The rest of the country started in on Arizona. “this law is racist and will lead to profiling.” “This is akin to the old soviet union or east Germany.” “papers please.”
These were the kinds of things they were saying. I was proud to see Arizonans standing up to the rest of the country/world and standing firm.
I was also disappointed in the rest of the country and in certain parts of Arizona where they were so vehemently attacking what Arizona was trying to do. But I started wondering, “what does that law really say?” so I researched it.
I found Arizona sb 1070 and read it. And now even more than before I applaud what Arizona has done.
When I read the law the very first thing I thought was “all the people griping about it clearly have not READ it.” But then I thought that can’t be true. Well last night I found out that sadly I was right. I heard interviews done with several politicians including Eric Holder and Janet Napolitano and they all said “I have not read it.” or “I have not reviewed it” or some other statement to that point. And yet, to a man (as it were), they all denounced it.
“This law is evil.” “It is unconstitutional.” “It is a travesty.”
No I will tell you what is the travesty. Our federal government who understands, even though they have NOT read the bill, that the reason the bill was passed was because they were not doing their job and they are offended that anyone would call them on it like this. In other words they’re pride was hurt. They are ashamed and so they are lashing out. This is not the way that our government is supposed to work.
I am ashamed that we have politicians in Washington who are so self centered that they would respond like this.
What I find offensive is that the “ruling elite” think they know better.
I am reminded of an episode of Frasier. Frasier is supposed to be this great mind, educated at Harvard super smart. At least that s what he thinks. But in this one episode he is proven *GASP* Wrong. And he makes the comment that “when [he] is wrong the world doesn’t make sense.” after all he is the snobby upper crust ultra smart ultra learned elite.
That is the way our government seems to think. “I went to Harvard (or Yale or Brown or whatever snobbish school.) so I ALWAYS have to be right. And if I am always right then if you disagree with me then you are wrong.”
The thought that they could be wrong NEVER occurs to these people. And so since they are always right then when the MAJORITY of the country disagrees with them then that is merely proof that all those people are even incapable of caring for themselves. So “we must do it for them.” And we are seeing this in their attitudes even now. “we have to pass health care because we know what they need.” “We have to stop this silliness in Arizona because they do not know better.” and so on. Never mind that people are LITERALLY dying due to the inaction of these people. That must be what is best because that is what they have deemed.
I read an article posted by someone from the New York Times. The article tried to downplay the events going on in Arizona. But I was very gratified to see that the majority of the people who responded to his article were not so easily taken in and they challenged him on several of his “mistakes” like how when he used statistics to back himself up by showing how there has been a “decline” in crime rates while there has been a jump in illegal aliens, the figures he used were from two different sources with the source from “back when it was bad” being specific to Phoenix Arizona and the source from Now that it is good being a general survey of the country. Actual sources that were from the same time frame and same area would have shown a marked increase.

SB 1070 thoughts
Okay so people are getting up in a tizzy about the Arizona law sb 1070.
They say such things as…
“oh this will lead to profiling”
“oh no it’s discriminatory.”
“ what about these people’s constitutional rights?”
Here’s the thing, first of all I do want to apologize if you are profiled. BUT I remember one time I was “pulled over” by a police officer because I was a young guy who was dropped off by my mother to go to work at Burger King. He stopped me because he thought I might be a runaway because of my age… isn’t that profiling? I was stopped because of my age! He said so himself. But I recognized, even then, that what he was doing was important!
He was trying to serve and protect. What if I really was a runaway? What might have happened to me? Or to others around me?
This is the same thing. Only instead of age discrimination it would be “racial profiling”. If it serves the public by protecting them or even makes the citizens of this country a little safer isn’t that a good thing?
As to the second point there are two issues there.
ONE These are illegal aliens we are dealing with. NOT citizens of the United States. And last I checked the Constitution only applies to citizens of the United States. (remember? This is a government Of the people by the people and for the people?) if it is our government then it is here to serve US not everyone else. By the way for the record I am consistent on this and I do not expect my constitutional freedoms when I am in another country, they have not ascribed to the U.S. Constitution so I do not expect them to do the things promised me in there. Although I do expect them to honor their treaties and agreements they made with my country. That is why when I go to other countries I first make sure they are on good terms with the U.S. and that there is some form of promise from those countries to mine that I will be treated well.
TWO: as I recall there are three human rights that are so basic that they are called inalienable. Those three rights, in order of importance, are…
“Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Now in the past few months there have been several incidents along the Mexican American border. And due to some of those events Actual honest to goodness citizens of the United States of America have lost their lives their liberties and been denied their chances at happiness. So these illegal aliens are denying us the rights promised to us at the same time they are demanding those rights for themselves even though they are not citizens and these promises made to the citizens of America not them!
I think Arizona is RIGHT to have pushed this law and I think that if the federal government would have done it’s job in the first place to enforce the laws in question then we would not now be in this screw up.
If the federal government is unable or unwilling to provide the promise made then it is up to the states to do it.

I don't understand
Let me explain… Obama stated that the point behind the health care plan was to cut the costs of the health care system. But recent reports by various groups and agencies, including the C.B.O. (Congressional Budget Office), state that, apparently, this will cost the government $115 BILLION (with a B) more than was originally projected.
(the original numbers showing that although this will initially cost 1.5 Trillion but it was going to be offset to break even in a decade? Nope. We will be at least 115 BILLION dollars in the hole.)
Also, about a third of the current providers for government insurance (AKA Doctors taking medicare etc…) will only be able to break even on costs, if that, under the new payment plans,. This means they cannot stay in business. Which means lower coverage, and speaking of lower coverage… In order to make the numbers look good to begin with the government had to cut the Medicare plus plans that actually help people because Medicare alone doesn’t.
Out of the uninsured people, whom this is supposed to help, approximately $33 Billion will be spent by them, per year!, to pay the fees and charges because the uninsured fee will be less than a private individual health care plan AND they will still be uninsured, And businesses will pay out about $70 to 80 Billion dollars more, same way, Which means they will have to get rid of employees in order to break even and again that will be without increasing coverage for any one at all.
“But look at all the good it does!”
(a) “Now a child cannot lose insurance just for turning 18 they are still covered.”
Insurance Companies have admitted that now if you add a child to an existing policy they are going to have to charge you so much more on your policy that it would be cheaper to just go out and buy the child their own policy.
(b) “But all those 30 million uninsured Americans will now have coverage.”
As pointed out already. No they won’t because, surprise, surprise they STILL cannot afford the health care policies. Wow imagine that! The government plan does NOTHING to actually lower any costs, so all those who couldn’t afford health insurance before? Well they STILL can’t! so no insurance for them.
(c ) “In the end it lowers costs, Obama said so.”
As already shown it will not lower costs it only lowers coverage. There will be less doctors because they are getting paid less, and it will cost more in the long run because as I have pointed out before you cannot pay for more people and have it cost less. If that was the way it worked then I would be going out to eat all the time because all I have to do is pay for everyone in the restaurant and I will be able to afford it.
Think about it people use your brains.
Now what I do not understand is how anyone can think that this bill is a good idea?
We have NO benefits from this until 2012 but we are paying for it now and yet even when it kicks in it will be a failure of spending.
What proof do I have about businesses having to increase their spending by too much?
Immediately after this bill was passed several companies including AT&T and Verizon reported to their shareholders that they were going to have losses this fiscal year. Losses they were not reporting until this bill was enacted, indeed they made no bones about it; this was a direct result of the health care bill put into place by congress.
Now a certain Government type person (congressman Henry Waxman), was livid that they were doing this “you are being anti government, how dare you make such statements, you are making this up, we are going to call you on the carpet and you are going to have to explain yourselves to this congress.” and indeed Mr. Waxman went to the trouble to set a time and date for the companies in question to come in front of a congressional hearing. Oddly enough a few days later that meeting was canceled. Apparently Mr. Waxman found out that…
(a) The companies were reporting REAL losses due to the bill, not made up numbers.
(b) The companies did not announce publicly to give the government a black eye. (that was a side benefit)
No apparently it is the law that in order to avoid another scandal ala Enron, businesses are required by law to make public all losses expected
( c) If Mr. Waxman were to pursue such a course it would only serve to make MORE public the fact that this health care bill was an unmitigated disaster.
So there you go. This November let’s send our message and get rid of these idiots in our government… before we end up like Greece and we all are doomed.

Health care, shmealth care
O.K. I want to get one thing straight here.
I am exactly who Obama was referring to when he was talking about the 34 million Americans who needed or wanted health care.
But the funny thing is that there is NOTHING in the health care package that Obama put out there for me.
Obama keeps using rhetoric about how all the things people say about it that are negative. But when I use Common sense as I try to do, I see that they are not scare tactics.
Rationing? It HAS to happen or the costs of health care will supersede the G.D.P. of the whole world, forget the U.S. in fact it is happening already just ask my 5 month old daughter who now cannot get the prescription she needs because the state cannot afford it with the new health care plan of Obama’s.
Death panels? Same thing I mean think about it if you are going to ration anyway (as you have to) then doesn’t it make sense to be sure you are getting the most bang for your buck? So sorry all you 70 year olds out there who need a heart transplant, but those are too expensive to waste on you.
What about the claims about the lies of Obama re: keep your doctor, have access to doctors that didn’t exist before, and so on?
Well let’s look at it this way. When I was able to use the Medicare system it still didn’t help ME because there were not enough doctors taking the Medicare. The ones that were taking Medicare were so busy and inundated with patients that they could not take anymore patients.
Also now the government is going to tell them that they are going to get LESS reimbursement for the ones they do see… is that really going to make them want to see MORE patients?
So what is The Great Obama’s plan? Make me buy something I can’t afford or punish me for not. Even though I will get no benefit from the money I pay out. How is this better?
What we NEED is a plan that LOWERS cost and raises access. But that is exactly what we did NOT get from Obama’s health care plan.

who is really the greedy one?
SO the way I See it the government needs to stop accusing everyone else of being greedy.
They have a kind of sickness! They are the ones who continuously want to raise taxes.
Now they ought to know that raising taxes causes people to reduce overall spending. After all they proudly declare this as one of their tools to redirect the behavior of Americans.
For example the tobacco industry is being phased out of existence by Government deliberately (or so I have heard them claim). The way the gov’t is doing this is through taxing the product so heavily that people are driven away from using it just by sheer cost.
And yet when you see them in action they don’t seem to get it all the rest of the time.
“Hey we need to make money, let’s add a new tax on cars! Increase the taxes!!!”
G.M. is too big to fail! but they are about to go bankrupt! We gotta bail them out. Why won’t people buy these cars? They’re too expensive. It must be because the car company is too greedy. Increase the taxes!
See the car company wasn’t necessarily the greedy one. It was the government that was to greedy.
The Government is the ones who keep raising prices. All they can say is “more taxes, more taxes”.
“Too many people are unemployed MORE TAXES“.
Why are they unemployed? Because the businesses which would hire them are paying so much in taxes they cannot hire new employees.
“More people want health care MORE TAXES” why can’t they buy the health care policies now? Because they cost to much due to the taxes.
“People want a better education for their kids, MORE TAXES”. why can’t they get a good education with what is spent on them now? I mean after all we spend more per student in this country then ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD. And we have the lowest educational quality. Why? Because the government has to interfere and create a bureaucracy that is unwieldy and expensive. The money isn’t spent on the students directly it is spent on the administrators and programs that gov’t has mandated the schools must do. And we have to have more money to administrate those. It doesn’t matter how much we pour in to the schools it will ALL get sucked up into some program that does little if anything to truly benefit the kids.
So who is the greedy one? Government. Not the manufacturers, not the teachers, not the doctors; the GOVERNMENT. And my fellow citizens I say “This needs to stop!” and it needs to stop NOW.
Smaller Government, Smaller taxes.

Kudos to Arizona!
That’s right I want to say congratulations to Arizona for making the bold and difficult choice to do the right thing.
Many people are totally against the recent legislation which passed in Arizona but what was done was needed! I hear people crying out how this will lead to racial profiling, or this is just an attempt to single out a race for harassment but I would disagree.
I believe if you have a certain person or group of people who are breaking the law then you need to arrest them. PERIOD!!!
It is NOT profiling or discrimination to bust someone for breaking the law.
“oh but this is aimed at Latinos.” they say. I say no it is not. The main perpetrators in Arizona may come over the Mexican border but they are Somalis, or they are Afghans, Venezuelans, or whatever. The point is they are here in our country ILLEGALLY! Therefore they need to be apprehended and dealt with as such.
On one of my favorite radio shows last night the host had a guest who asked the question “would you like to have to prove your citizenship every time you are pulled over?” And my answer is “I ALREADY DO!” if I am pulled over I have to show my driver’s license…oops that would be a proof of citizenship… people already are doing this every day. The only difference is that now the police in Arizona have the authority to, GASP!!!!!!!, enforce the law OH NO WHAT A HORRIBLE THING!!!
How about if I put it in terms all you Obama care advocates can understand… Since you are so up on doing EVERYTHING the way everyone else in the world does it… In ANY other country in this world you have to register with the local authorities and provide proof that you are there legally. If they are doing it why don’t we? I mean that WAS the argument you used to explain whyh we so desperately needed this really bad health care plan that is going to do nothing it promised but cost us twice as much. (Just like the guy YOU put into office.)
Oh but wait maybe THAT is the real problem you have with this. This will actually SAVE us money, it will do something positive for the American citizens and it is a GOOD idea.
Hmm that is a problem.
No really though think about it… Arizona has been named the kidnapping capital of the WORLD because of illegals coming up and kidnapping our citizens, they face crime epidemics of unparalleled audacity, (drugs, theft, rape, violent AND nonviolent crimes of all sorts.) They are seeing a sharp decline in heath care because of an over loaded system, and in the middle of all this they are seeing NO action whatsoever from the federal government. The Governor of Arizona has pleaded with the president for some kind of aid and has apparently had ALL her pleas fall on deaf ears.
I think it may be possible that the recent murder of a law abiding rancher at the hands of illegals was the tipping point.
When you have people being massacred in their own back yards you have to do something.
I think the real issue here is that the federal government is at fault for not doing something to fix the problem while there was still a chance.

What to do?
So I am dealing with a dilemma. First I am a little alarmed. At the same time I am impressed.
I am alarmed at the tactics of the Democrats. They are doing everything they can to wrongfully discredit all opponents, they are denying reality and making outrageous claims that are proven to be lies.
Yet I gotta tell you if half the stuff they do say is true then we ought to be giving these people major kudos and even sports contracts.
One of the situations I am referring to is a democrat senator who claims that a conservative threw a rock through his office headquarters in his home state. (oh those evil conservatives).
Turns out though that the office in question was 30 stories off the ground. I mean WOW that guy needs to be in sports!
Then there is the case of a man who allegedly spit, that's right spit, on a senator while said politician was walking through the crowds beside Ms. Pelosi on the way to congress.
Unfortunately for the politician the whole event was filmed and the film proof denies what he claims.
apparently a group has claimed they are going to defeat the tea party movement by exaggerating the actions of said group. they outright have claimed they will go out and infiltrate the tea party and deliberately misspell signs and they will loudly hurl epithets and in general act racist and whatever.
So all the things that we see going on that are so negative about the tea party are, apparently, deliberately engineered to discredit the tea party.
This is a little scary because what they are doing is denying people the chance to practice their constitutional rights.
I have to say that I am offended by these actions because I served in the U.S. Military to protect the freedoms that they are trying to walk all over.
if you cannot accept the fact that there are people who disagree with you or your view then you shouldn't be here.
and that brings me to one more point I keep wanting to make...
I live(d?) in the United States of America and I loved my country.
I loved my country because, while it was not perfect, it was a place that was created on a different premise... that "all men are created equal" and we saw a major difference in our country because of that.
We had better health care available to us because of our freedoms, we had the ability to say what we wanted without fear, we had the ability to live the life we wanted without interference from other people.
Now we have people saying "we need to have health care like Canada, or like France or like England.
My view is that if you want the health care offered in England or Canada or whatever then you need to move to those countries! The funny thing is that all the Canadians who could afford to would come here for their health care. If the Canadian system is so good why do they have to come here?
And similar concern is raised regarding all the other countries used as examples.
I mean both Canada and Mexico have the state sponsored health care option and yet we still get hundreds of illegal aliens coming up from Mexico for health care because even the cheap options here (E.R.'s) are a thousand times better than what is in Mexico. And as I said before the Canadians who can afford it come here too.
I say leave the health care alone... or is this really an effort to keep the illegals out? maybe that's it? if they are coming here to use the health care we have then if we change the care maybe they will stay away...
Whatever. I want the Government to keep their hands to themselves and stop trying to fix things in ways that make them worse.

Restaurant style health care
I thought of a really good analogy and I wanted to share it with you.
The recent Health care bill passage and the subsequent broo ha ha caused a friend of mine to ask why so many people are against such a good idea.
I responded that my main problem was that I couldn't afford it and neither could our children but he didn't seem to understand. So I am going to try to explain it through this analogy.
first I have to point out that I am exactly the kind of person that president Obama Described every time he said these are the people we need to help... that is I am without health care I would like to have health care but I can't even miss a day of work because my finances are so tight that a day off work literally could mean I can't pay the rent, let alone have the extra cash to spend on an expensive health care policy.
But the plan instituted here does absolutely nothing for me.
When I first moved here I was on medicare because I was without a job and at least a year ago there were no doctors in my area who were accepting patients of my status. (that's right none, zip, zero, nada, niente...) Now He wants to add more people into a system that already has too many patients and not enough doctors, while lowering the amount that system will pay the doctors?
How does this help me?
Plus MY taxes are still going to increase to pay for it.
I See it as being like a restaurant. I go in to have a meal I am not rich, and I want to save some of my hard earned cash, so I will only have a grilled cheese sandwich. because it is the cheapest item.
But then when I get the bill I find I am also paying for the Lobster Thermidor and the $500 an ounce caviar that the diner at the next table chose to eat.
What's more that diner chose that meal in part because he KNEW he wouldn't be paying for it.
And even worse than that, this plan doesn't meet all the needs... you want vegetables with that? tough those aren't covered because no one likes them and they are too expensive... HUH????
So what am I supposed to do? My first and primary care giver will still be the E.R. just as it was/is before the interference of the government. I still will suffer poor health and limited choice but in the end it will cost me more.
And Our fearless leader did this to help me? with help like that I will soon and up dead. OH THANK you oh SO much Mr. President. (please note that last was said with all the sarcasm I could muster.)
Maybe I will start using this as a curse... "May you be helped by the liberals." Hmm then again I really wouldn't wish this poor excuse for "reform" on my worst enemies.
Am I in favor of reform of some kind? YES! I want reform that actually addresses COST of service not something that ADDS taxes so the cost is higher!
I want reform that creates an affordable alternative!
Not a threat that if I do not buy the Policies the Government chose then I will have to go to jail or be fined for it. (for crying out loud like I already said I cannot afford health care as it is, and now the insurance companies have hiked their rates as much as 37% and they are looking at ANOTHER hike of up to 15% JUST BECAUSE OF THIS LEGISLATION!!!)
maybe if Medicare paid at least the operating costs of the doctors then there would be more doctors who would accept it.
Maybe if there was a standardized rate for services then everyone would know where they were on things.
Maybe if the Insurance companies weren't allowed to wheedle special treatment out of hospitals and doctors so everyone else had to pay more.
Maybe if there was a limit or clause that a person could not sue doctors willy nilly. That they had to have a truly justified case, not just an "oh I feel bad that gramps died, even though he had a bad heart and scarfed down bacon and quadruple burgers like water, so now I want to get all I can out of the doctor/s to assuage my pain."
Maybe if the Malpractice insurers had to hold down costs for the doctors so the doctors wouldn't have to pay out millions of dollars thereby increasing their overhead...
But Obama did NONE of that. Oh no his idea is to tax everything... yeah that will make it more affordable, raise costs... that always makes it cheaper huh?.
His plan is to cut back on how much medicare will pay... yeah the doctors will be able to stay in business while declaring bankruptcy because they cannot get enough to pay the bills.
His plan is to throw all the people who don't buy insurance into jail... oh yeah that will fix it all, nevermind that the jail systems in this country are ALL overcrowded... yeah hmm I can't afford to buy this service that makes me a felon... good plan.
His plan is to tell people they can't get needed surgery because they are too old for it to be worthwhile, or they just plain don't have a good enough quality of life... That is exactly like saying... "you may as well just crawl off somewhere and die to ease your suffering."
Wait a minute maybe that is the plan! If we kill off all the old people, the sick people and the poor people then health care would have to get cheaper.
I mean, it will work because all you will have left is the strong, healthy and rich people.
Ah Utopia here it comes and who cares what happens to the peasant rabble.
A word though Mr. President, I know you abhor History and reality but this plan has been tried before in a way (that is the "let the peasants suffer" concept) And it has never worked out well before.
